Maras chiles are typically only found crushed and unlike most of chile flakes you may be most familiar with, are not completely dry. Maras pepper is known for its rich, complex and slightly sweet flavor.

Maras Chili Peppers, registered pepper seeds belonging to the Kahramanmaras region are grown and dried in Maras, which has the most suitable climate conditions for these seeds. Chili peppers made by an adding appropriate amount of salt and oil are called Maras chili pepper.

Maras chiles, salt and vegetable (sunflower) oil.

Heat Level

We consider these to be a mild chile which comes in at about a 4,000 to 8,000 on the Scoville heat unit scale. (SHU) Mild, Medium, Medium to Hot, Hot, and Extra Hot is available upon request.

Flavor Profile

The flavor profile of crushed Maras pepper is similar to Aleppo pepper. The aroma is of dried fruit, while the taste is slightly acidic with hints of deep earthy flavors.
